Founded in 1992, The Farber Consulting Group, Inc. helps businesses modernize older applications, including legacy Alpha Five desktop systems. Our work brings application development and database design together. Our team's project experience includes:
• Johnson & Johnson: Custom accounting and financial systems.
• Dassault Aviation: Inspection scheduling software for Falcon aircraft maintenance.
• Avis Car Rental: MySQL performance tuning, followed by moving a desktop contract management application to the web.
• iA American Warranty Group: Tuning more than 800 stored procedures and functions.
• VTP Ltd (UK): Built a web scraping application that collects supplier and competitor pricing, cross-references part numbers, and supports its truck parts inventory and pricing decisions.
Moving a desktop application to the web starts with understanding how employees use it. We review screens, reports, and database relationships, then define what the browser application must do. Existing business rules need attention throughout that process.
Our Alpha Five development services include support for older applications and web development. Alpha Anywhere provides a development path for database-driven web applications; .NET is a separate option when the project's requirements call for it.
Our .NET work for VTP shows another use of web applications. Its web scraping application searches supplier and competitor websites in parallel, retrieving pricing and part details. It cross-references part numbers to support inventory research and purchasing decisions.
Clients can review a prototype before the full application is built. That gives the employees who use the software an opportunity to check the proposed workflow.
Where useful, the new system can connect with other business applications or add AI-assisted reporting. Requirements determine which capabilities belong in the project.
