Interesting Facts About the Four Directions in Vastu Shastra

In Vastu Shastra, the ancient Hindu science of architecture, the four cardinal directions of North, South, East, and West are given profound meaning. Every direction is said to be ruled by a god symbol and natural energy that affects harmony, prosperity, and health in a house or office. The East is linked with the rising sun and Lord Indra, reflecting growth, health, and good vibes. Open areas, windows, or doorways in this direction are favorable. The West, dominated by Varuna, is connected with stability and prosperity, usually fit for dining or study spaces. The North, ruled by Lord Kubera, the deity of wealth, is believed to generate wealth and economic development. Therefore, maintaining this direction uncluttered and accessible adds positive energy. The South, dominated by Yama, the god of justice, represents vigor and discipline. Although frequently deemed unfavorable for front entrances, it is strong for bedrooms and closets. Vastu insists on balance: when all four directions are balanced, they form a flow of energy that fosters well-being, joy, and prosperity. These directional principles, as old as they are, still impact contemporary architecture and interior design, combining tradition and modern living for a balanced lifestyle
